What is Two Factor Authentication (TFA or 2FA)?

Two Factor Authentication (TFA), sometimes called Multi Factor Authentication (MFA), adds an extra layer of security to your account by introducing an additional step while logging in. This can be a single use code or a token from a token generator app that only you have access to.

Each time you log into a TFA enabled account you will be prompted to enter the code or token to confirm you are the person who belongs to the account. It is unlikely that an unauthorised person would be able to enter the correct code or token to complete the login. This significantly increases the security of your account compared to only having a password.
